Hello, Again!
After too many long years on the road and a spotty derailment caused by an enterprise-forced switch to a Mac, the Pelokee project lives on!
You may have noticed a website design update, which was way overdue. Our theme has been updated from the technology of choice back in the late 2000’s. I’ve built some other sites along the way, consulted with some local creative agencies, played in some bands, and took a sabbatical. Lots to catch up on and share with you!
These travels have ushered in a whole new swath or software, gear, technologies, and ideas. Rather than tearing down and rebuilding the site from scratch, I’ve left the legacy content for entertainment purposes, as well as to act as markers for what we’ll update and bring up to speed now that it’s 2019 and not 2009.
There have been many changes in music software, PC (and now Mac!) software, and web design. In fact, I was able to completely redesign the site while sitting at Starbucks yesterday while our house was cleaned. WordPress has been king for a long time, but the robustness of the plugins has grown considerably and I’ll share with you what I’ve been using on other sites to get up and running quickly. You will get the $5k-$10k experience for little more than the cost of hosting, a domain name, some discretionary spending depending on your niche, and some time investment. You’ll learn enough here to start your own business if that is what you are interested in.
So sit back, relax, enjoy, and let me know what questions you have as I begin the fun of updating!

Here’s the first tip I’ll share:
- When starting with a fresh site, you may want to completely disable “Blocks”, or the so-called Gutenberg editor. It’s pretty frustrating out of the gate and there is a lot to re-learn (e.g. you can’t just add an in-line photo at this point. You have to create a new media block and move the blocks around before you can merge/align words with images. Don’t even get me started on font colors and links. PITA!). Use the awesome Disable Gutenberg plugin for some, or all of your editing needs. However, there are reasons why Gutenberg may work better for you depending on your needs. If you do use Gutenberg, then consider the Qubely Blocks plugin that adds rich editing features and new block styles to Gutenberg.
